It’s getting hard to work out my kids’ age
They’re now decades old, so doing the sums
Is hard for a maths struggler. The big page
Was turned from easy to hard at that stage
Known as the millennium in 2000
I’ve struggled since then in my mathsless cage
Known as my brain, to cope with sums I can’t
Do since it’s a new century. Beyond
That point my consciousness will slowly hum
As all my thoughts focus on the passage
Of 20th to 21st, despondent
Of my ability to know my son
Not by his personality but age
