It lives up to its name, though it is cheap
Met Paul in the Old Monkey (not the Ritz!)
Then later, Night and Day on Oldham Street
And finally the English Lounge. Defeat
Avoided by Southampton, playing well
Against League leaders Man City - fine feat
And fine feet too, fine football skill
But by this time we weren’t feeling too well
Paul caught his bus back to Leigh and repeats
His previous bus trick of falling asleep 💤
He woke up in time, ill but not too ill
And went on to drink more. Me, tried to hit
Some more cans, only one, then a retreat
