3607 - Deceived me into thinking I had something to protect

Showers and ex-world powers falling down
Tomorrow I'll go out and take a coat
We're all out, so they say, with joyful sound
As if walking off is reason to gloat
It was Britain's end when I placed my vote
But more voted to keep it connected
To the imagined national life support
In spite of decades we've genuflected
To the Queen and the States, unelected
Both by us. What anyway in that mound
Of crosses on paper is asked for? Float
Some theories if you like, all created
By the result, but the Queen and the pound
And sameness are treasured in all those hearts
